Is HJC or AFX helmet, a good brand like shoei?

I swindle a scooter. The speed is around 40 mph.....thats it

The last span I checked, HJC was the number one helmet maker in the world, sell helmets under their name, the Cirrus brand and many of the 'clothing thread' brands.

AFX doesn't share the same reputation as HJC or the volume of sales, but they aren't bad for the buck.

Legitimate because you buy one of the 'big name' or even a high dollar helmet doesn't insure you've bought the best helmet. Nor does the fact that racers irritate them. Racer's get paid to advertise products, or at least take advantage of freebie or contingency awards. Not to cite the type of 'typical' impact on a road race bike as compared to a 'typical' hit off-method, or street bike are completely different putting different stresses on the helmet.

Motorcyclist publication did a very in-depth test on not only helmets, but the standards used to test them (DOT & SNELL) and found some real fascinating facts. I highly suggest that EVERY motorcyclist read the article. It'll open your eyes and magnify away a lot of preconcieved notions.
